“We have an hour long race, at a world class level, and we call it a sprint

New Year’s Resolutions!

Alright, I’ve never really been a huge fan of resolutions, because to me resolutions are some big grey thing that isn’t a concrete idea. More of a thought. Be more healthy. Do more this. Do less that. I am always unsure how to plan that out. I need a plan.

I do, however, make goals for the new year. I can handle goals. I can lay out a plan to accomplish goals.

THINGS I WANT TO DO:

  1. Run a marathon- Ok, I still haven’t signed up for Mercedes. Training got a little derailed because of my getting sick, but if I can get in a long run this weekend I should be back on track. The only thing is the cost. It’s roughly $80, and to me that’s a lot of money. I’m also going to be competing in triathlons this spring. Entry fees are expensive. Along with the fact I have to renew my membership to USATri and I’m going to get a USACycling thing- Note to self: Talk to prez to see which one I need-
  2. Start racing on my road bike- I GOT PEDALS I CAN RACE- I would like to do well in at least one of them. There’s a whole metric ton of strategy and rules I need to learn. LET’S DO THIS!
  3. Do a 5k in under 25 min, Race official. -I’ve done it on my own, but I want a race verified time. Ya know?
  4. Olympic time 2:35:00 -A girl can dream, yeah?
  5. GET TO BE A BETTER RUNNER- It’s my one hang up. I am a poor runner. If I could drop half a minute off my pace, it would make a world of difference.
  6. IRONMAN IRONMAN IRONMAN IRONMAN IRONMAN!!!!! -Yeah. I really want to do this one. So badly. I’m pretty much to the point that if Greg and Rick back out of the race, I’ll do it anyway. I’m not afraid of doing it alone.

Anyone else have any big goals for the year?

So this is weird. I still find it hard to believe that next year at this time I’ll be an Ironman.  233 days til go time.

Oh man. I envy you. I’m still too afraid to make the plunge and sign up.
I know that if I train I can be ready in a year. I mean, I can already do the swim without any worries. It’s the bike and the run…
I mean, I can do a marathon…
But after all the cycling and the swimming?
Oh man.
By the year after I will have it done.
I swear.
Can I just say that I really, really, really want to be an Iron Man?
I want to be able to wear MDot stuff.
And I REFUSE to do so until I race it.
