1053 ft climbing over 4 hills, winds constant at 12, gusting at 20 mph.
My legs hurt :)
I don’t need cleats.
I just need pedals for my road bike. I really just need them before road cycling season starts up. I’ll be doing races pretty much every other weekend or so, alternating between triathlons and road races. Moving my pedals from bike to bike will be a major pain. D:
I keep bidding on things on eBay, but I always get outbid and things go way over my price limit. Curse you, college budget.
Sigh.
Maybe I can talk Santa Clause into putting some in my stocking this year?
My bottom bracket needed to be replaced.
Booooo.
The left ball bearing was pitted and was eating away at the internal workings, creating a terrible creaking noise.
No bueno.
At least my frame is fine.
The woes of a used bike
The one I want to do is 70 mi. I’m starting to get really nervous. The group is supposed to be 18-20 mph. I can do Oak mnt twice and average 18. I could do a pretty decent mostly flatish course back on campus at 19 no problem.
But this one scares me.
I don’t want to get dropped, and not know how to get home. No one is at home to come get me if I get lost. I’m terrified of a flat because I still struggle sometimes with the CO2 cartridges.
A few teammates are doing it, but one is so super good I know she’ll be leading the pack. Another is a friend that I’ve hung with most of the summer, but he’s going to be riding with another of his friends. I don’t know what he’ll do if I do start falling behind. He might leave me, or he might leave his friend. It all depends on his mood tomorrow.
I haven’t done a group ride since I started cycling way back last fall, and then I was dropped faster than you could say GO. :/ I’m faster now, but idk how fast everyone else is.
I’m so worried.
I don’t know what to do about it either.
I possibly could do the 40 mi route, one I know I could make an easy ride.
But…
I want to do the 70 mi one.

Tomorrow’s long ride info

What I normally do
http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/35705516
I can’t get it to load.
Anyway, I do that averaging right at 18.
Should I just go for it tomorrow?
At least I got in an easy ride this morning. So much for this being a nothing day. :]
I need people to talk to when I’m goofing off at work
To talk nutrition
And strategies
And training
And moaning about waking up at the crack of dawn to go workout
And the joys of sleeping in to 7 on a rare occasion
:]
:’D
x_X
-le sigh-
Talk to me?

Only good pic from my last race…

I don’t know if it’s because the route was super hilly, or that I did a lower body circuit yesterday, or that I haven’t actually ridden off the trainer since my race two weeks ago.
Oh well. Let’s just call it a taper workout.

Me actually looking somewhat legit on the bike. Hah. How did that happen?
This is awesome! Not only is everyone absolutely insane, I got to learn some neat stuff.
Things I can do now:
Fly mounts
Fly dismounts
-Ok, I am still a bit terrified of them. Getting my shoes figured out with them is a bit interesting, but I’m going to get it!-
How to set up my transition for an IT race
Lots of stuff for IT races.
Not that I probably will do an IT race in the near future, but whatever. :]
Swim is in a couple hours, and for that I’m really pumped!
One of the people from USAT is from my local YMCA. Also coming from my home pool is a professional triathlete who used to be my swim coach.
God, I know so many good tri people. x_X I never realized. Between that, Coach Jess, Coach Charles, and Frank… man. Hah. Oh well. Now I have to try not to look like a newbie all the time around them…
Much easier said than done.
It has been raining here for so long.
And there are no good stationary bikes at the gym- which are a pale comparison anyway, but would do in a pinch.
