I just wanted to share with you all the crazy, nasty, tangled mess that was my hair after the race. It took me 45 min in the shower with conditioner to get all taken care of. :/
And for comparison:
My hair is naturally straight and my pony tail typically goes to the bottom of my sports bra…

Sooooooo…. I may do a half iron a week after Rev3

Probably a bad idea. But a friend invited me to go do it with him. I’d get to stay a week at the beach and chill, three days before, and three days after the race

How much of a bad idea is this?

USAT, You are a TEASE

Don’t send me emails saying that rankings are up if they aren’t!

I want to know where I am!

Anyone know why I don’t show up anywhere, ranked or unranked, when I search by my age group, but when I enter my USAT number I show up immediately with a score and everything??

MTD: Not sure. It’s some Saturday…

Ok! So basically I’ve been slacking off a little bit the past week because schedule has been CRAZY.

My car has been in an out of the shop, and so has my bike, so between the two of them I’ve been WALKING to the far ends of the city in order to get everything taken care of.

Yesterday, Friday, was cross training. I had a nice set planned out, but when I got in the pool I wasn’t in the mood to do a bunch of 500s. Instead, I did my normal 500 warmup, drills, a 500 pull, and then a nice 1650. It’s been way too long since I’ve done one of those. It felt good to just do it straight through. I had forgotten how much you talk to yourself between the walls. Anyway, after that I just did drills. Ended up being a little over 2 miles. Not bad, but not great. Oh well.

This morning I got up and made my lazy butt do 10mi. WOOT! It felt pretty good! :] So far that’s the longest run of the training program. Next week’s long run will only be 8, but I might do 10 again, because the trail here is 5mi for one loop. OH! Forgot to mention that I had to head home to watch the dogs while my family is traveling to my sister’s swim meet.

Anywho.

I was running in my tank top and shorts, and of course my USAT hat. I love that thing. It makes me feel like a bad-ass. Haha. Everyone else looked at me like I was crazy. Everyone else was either in long sleeves, long pants, or both. Many had ear warmers and gloves. Wimps. I loved it. I wasn’t cold at all. It was PERFECT. I typically hate the cold, but I love it when I have to run. If it’s sunny, it doesn’t matter how cold it is; it’s amazing.

So now that I’ve done that, it’s time to clean up the house and hang with a friend and watch football. I love a good, Southern Saturday.

Core Exercises for Triathletes →

Core Exercises for Triathletes

With your heart set on successfully completing the triathlon, your main area of focus will slide towards engaging in strenuous workouts and practicing transition runs (T-runs) so that you are well equipped to switch from swimming to biking and finally to running in the last leg of the race. With such an intense and demanding schedule planned out, triathletes often overlook core exercises. Truth be told, triathletes who incorporate core exercises into their workouts are a force to be reckoned with. Practicing core exercises for triathletes builds up your core strength and fine tunes your body’s sense of balance and stabilization. With core exercises your body can perform more efficiently, and is also less prone to injuries.

two hours before practice: oh i can eat eggs, toast, and bacon for breakfast i have two hours

The end. Oh man.

Epic Swim Time! D:

This morning was my first Master’s swim in about two weeks. I’ve been crazy sore/tired all week as I get back in the swing of things. My legs were still very unhappy with me from my lower body day Wednesday and my ride yesterday.

Warmup was fine. 1200 of Skips. (Swim, Kick, Pull, Swim)

Main set was 30x50 on an interval. He came to me when I was going to start and said “Alright, let’s make this a triathlete’s workout. Instead of doing these E-O-H (Every other Hard) Let’s just do these on this interval. It should be easy at first, but by around lap 20 you should have to start working.”

M’kay. NBD. Let’s do this!

So I’m swimming, and then about four into my set he comes over.

“Alright. You’re looking pretty good so far. See those people over there” He pointed to two people I’ve swam with before. One was the 2x Kona racer and the other just won her age group in a 70.3 race this past weekend.

“Yeah”

“Chase ‘em. Don’t let them get away. Their interval is just five seconds faster than yours. You can do it”

“Alright!”

So starting the next 50 I went with them. They were at 14 when I joined in. I thought it couldn’t be too bad. We were only doing 30. I’d finish the ones that I needed to do after they finished.

 It wasn’t that bad.

Until I hit a point where it got hard.

But I kept going.

Eventually I started thinking, ‘They’ve probably only got like five left.’

Those five passed.

There’s got to be no more than five more! Really, they’ll be done soon!

Those five passed.

…. One more

By this point I was barely making the intervals. I could stay with them easily for the first 25, but coming back they’d pull ahead. So I stopped.

Coach came over and squatted next to me. “That was a good set!”

“…How many did I do?”

“Thirty-six”

“What? How many are they doing?”

“Sixty. I was going to stop you when you got to forty.”

“You’re mean. “

He was just smiling and laughing at me.

He loves the mental games like this. He was just going to let me do all of them with these guys. x.x

On the bright side, I know I can train with the big dogs when I’m in the water. That’s a good thing, at least.

Now I just have to not suck everywhere else….

:’D
